Price it right: markup, margin, and profit in one place.
Enter your cost and whichever one number you already know — markup percent, margin percent, or the sell price — and get the other two, plus the profit, with the formula behind each.
Nothing you type here ever leaves your browser. There's no server behind this page — every calculation runs locally on your device, the same local-first idea behind the Ochre app.

Markup vs. margin — the one paragraph that matters
These two numbers describe the exact same $50-on-$100-cost sale but answer different questions, and that's the entire source of confusion: markup asks "how much did I add on top of what it cost me?" — (sell − cost) ÷ cost — so a $100 item that cost $50 has a 100% markup. Margin asks "what share of the money I actually collected is profit?" — (sell − cost) ÷ sell — so that same sale is only a 50% margin, because now the $50 profit is being measured against the full $100 you took in, not the $50 it cost. Same sale, same dollar of profit, two legitimately different percentages — neither one is "wrong," they just answer different questions.

What this page cannot do
You will work this out again next week.
A markup calculation is only useful once it is attached to something you sell. Ochre keeps a price book — name, price, tax class, unit — and the same calculator opens on a product’s price field, so the number you arrive at is the number that lands on the next invoice.
